Summary: Breathed new life into my old laptop
Comment: My 4-year-old Inspiron laptop had been starting to show its age in mysterious ways. I would fire it up and it would run like a champ for about 20 minutes. After that, suddenly and abruptly, it would slow down dramatically - by at least 75%. For example, when you opened a new window, you could literally watch it get slowly drawn on the screen.
This puzzled me, as the hard drive wasn't being constantly hit, nor were there any runaway processes gobbling all my CPU cycles. I was becoming increasingly frustrated at working with such a slow machine, and was considering replacing it with an expensive new model. But I began to notice that the laptop fan was constantly running at its highest speed, and I started to wonder if it was just too hot.
Of course, unlike a tower, you can't simply pop the case open and install a bigger fan, or a larger heat sink on the CPU. So I gave this laptop cooling stand a try, and what a difference it has made.
During my first outing with the computer up on the stand, the CPU ran at full speed for well over 4 hours. Didn't slow down once. Even the laptop's built-in fan ran much slower than usual.
It's a nicely designed piece of equipment, and fits my laptop quite well. The white color doesn't really go with my gray computer, but since it was half the price of the black one, I honestly couldn't care less. The fan is much quieter than my laptop's fan and keeps a constant stream of cool air running under the chassis.
Anytime I can spend less than twenty dollars and revitalize a machine that cost over a thousand, that's a major plus in my book.

Comment: It is very seldom that a product dissapoints on all levels. Ill-designed, poor construction, and over-priced. At this time I will run my laptop at "thermal" risk rather than use the BELKIN.

Comment: It does exactly what you need. Kept my HP laptop, and my MacBookPro cool. The Mac ended up warming up a little bit after a full day use even with the fan, but in comparison to the heat it outputs with out the cooling stand it was nothing.
You can hear the fan running, but it's still pretty quiet and wouldn't bother anyone. The fan is strong and steady if anything will bother a person near by is the occasional breeze, seriously.
I hate batteries so the USB power cord is great. Note that if your not tethered to a power outlet, and your battery doesn't hold a GREAT charge already. The fan will drain your laptop quicker than you'd like. In which case your better off dealing with the heat. The Cooling pad is best used for 2 hours or more, when connected to a power outlet.
I like the lightweight and compactness of it, but do wish it was a bit more sturdy. It's entirely plastic so pressure directly in the center of your laptop from your wrist, or sitting the cooling stand on one leg for example will cause the fan to rub against the sides of the cooling stand. Although it posing no damage to the computer and little I'd imagine to the stand, the sound is jarring none the less.
One last request would be some sort of elevation options. The laptop sits at only a slight incline, doing nothing for your visibility. But if you sit high enough it's very comfy on your wrist. This is offset to be by the continued discomfort you find in your neck.
I use it daily, and for the price it can't be beat. Does exactly what you want, COOL your laptop.

Comment: this is great for my laptop, it keeps it cool all the time I am very happy with this purchase, the only thing i don't like is that the stand on the back keep falling down when you try to put it up, other then that its a great product.

Comment: I recieved this cooling pad for christmas I used it for about three days then the fan just stopped i plugged it back it and it still didnt work.
Also I have a large laptop and it was hard to balance it on this because
it was so small
